Our Vision
We envision a future where rural Texas communities continue to thrive without sacrificing the land, water, wildlife, peace, and way of life that make them unique. We believe the people who live in these communities deserve a meaningful voice in decisions that could permanently impact their homes, families, and future generations.
Our goal is to help preserve the character, heritage, and natural resources of Tom Green County and surrounding West Texas communities while advocating for responsible, transparent, and community-conscious development.
Our Mission
Tom Green County Citizens Coalition is a grassroots, bipartisan organization made up entirely of volunteers who believe protecting our rural communities is important enough to dedicate our personal time toward.
Our mission is to:
- Advocate for transparency and accountability
- Protect rural land and water resources
- Support responsible infrastructure and environmental planning
- Educate and organize local residents
- Encourage civic engagement at the county and state level
- Preserve the peace, safety, and heritage of rural West Texas communities
We are not anti-progress. We are pro-community, pro-water, pro-rural Texas, and pro-local voice.
Our Approach
We believe informed, organized, and respectful community involvement creates the strongest impact.
Our coalition is made up of neighbors, ranchers, landowners, retirees, business owners, parents, and lifelong West Texans from different backgrounds, professions, beliefs, and political views who are united by one common goal: protecting the communities we call home.
Many of us had never attended a public meeting, spoken at Commissioners Court, or contacted a state agency before this issue arose. We are ordinary residents stepping up because we believe our communities, land, water, and families are worth fighting for.
Our group works to:
- Research and share information with residents
- Attend public meetings and engage elected officials
- Communicate with regulatory agencies and media outlets
- Encourage public participation and civic engagement
- Build relationships with neighboring communities facing similar concerns
- Promote fact-based discussion and transparency surrounding industrial-scale development in unincorporated rural areas
We believe rural Texans deserve transparency, accountability, and a meaningful voice in decisions that could permanently reshape the places they call home.
